Kwara State Government Approved SOBI Specialist Hospital as Training facility for Al-hikmah Medical Students

The Kwara State Government has approved the request from Al-Hikmah University Ilorin to train its medical students at the Sobi Specialist Hospital. 

In line with the cardinal objective of the Kwara State Government to improve the health care service delivery in the State, the AbdulRaham Abdulrazak administration has invested heavily in the health sector in order to improve health facilities and infrastructure in the State.

Sobi Specialist Hospital is a major beneficiary of this massive injection of funds and has experienced major transformation under the AbdulRazaq administration.

The terms of the relationship will be affirmed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  that is due for signing soon between the Kwara State Government and Al-Hikmah University,  Ilorin. 

The development comes as the University ramps up its preparions for resource verification  exercise for the Medical programme  by  the National Universities Commission(NUC) and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria of Nigeria(MDCN).

This approval is a boost to the efforts of the University to ensure that the Medical programme commence in the 2024/2025 academic session (October, 2024).

The Govering Council at its 59th meeting on Thursday, 6th June,  2024 also approved other relevant requirements of the Medical programme which, among others, the commencement  of the construction of the University Medical complex and the engagement of academic and non teaching staff for the medical programme.
