Nigerian Scholar Wins Scholarships, Internship at World Trade Organization

Nigerian scholar Eze Gabriel Chikwado has been awarded a scholarship to pursue studies in International Law and Global Challenges at Newcastle University, UK. This prestigious opportunity is further complemented by an internship at the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Sharing his academic success on Facebook, Chikwado expressed his gratitude and excitement: “Firstly I won a scholarship to further my studies in International Law and Global Challenges at Newcastle University, UK. I also won additional scholarship in Newcastle University in the course of my study.”

Chikwado’s accomplishments extend beyond the scholarship. He revealed, “Additionally, I was offered internship opportunity in World Trade Organisation (WTO) and UK Mission - all in Geneva, Switzerland.” He also highlighted another significant achievement: “I was offered additional scholarship by Newcastle University Global Opportunities to enable me participate in the Joint University Study Tour (JUST)/Internship in International Trade in Geneva, Switzerland.”
Reflecting on his experiences, Chikwado shared that the internship provided unique opportunities. “I had the privilege to not only interact but work in the same building with the most outstanding women of the world the DG WTO, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and DDG WTO, Joanna Hill.”

Chikwado attributes his success to a combination of hard work and grace: “Define Grace by reference to Gabriel Chikwado Eze. While I agree that hard work is inevitable, but Grace makes the difference.”
He expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Newcastle University and his mentors: “I cannot thank Newcastle University enough. My wonderful lecturers, Dr. Andrea Wilkinson, Dr. Elena Katselli and Dr. Zoe have showered me with love and care beyond imagination. Our dear Jan of the University of West Indies, including others who played significant roles in making this a success are hugely appreciated.”
Despite his international commitments, Chikwado continues to maintain his legal practice in Nigeria. He acknowledged the support of his colleagues: “Let me add that I still maintained my practice in Nigeria and our law report, All thanks to my partners, Isaac and Joseph, the staff and our support staff in office. No client has ever complained and I have managed to travel in and out whenever there is need while studying.”
