Kano Government Allocates N2.9 Billion for NECO and NBAIS Exam Fees for Indigent Students

The Kano state government has allocated N2.9 billion for the payment of National Examinations Council (NECO) and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examination fees for 119,903 indigent students. This decision aims to support students in writing the examinations and advancing their education.

Speaking at a news conference in Kano, the Commissioner for Education, Umar Doguwa, revealed that these students successfully passed the 2024 qualifying examination. Governor Abba Yusuf has approved the payment of exam fees for students who excelled in four subjects in the qualifying examination.

Mr. Doguwa emphasized that this gesture will enable indigent students to write the examinations and pursue their educational aspirations. He also highlighted the state government's previous efforts in paying NECO and NBAIS registration fees for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 sessions, inherited from the previous administration.

Reiterating the commitment to enhance the standards of education in Kano state, Mr. Doguwa called for support for government initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in the education sector.
