KWASU Graduates 20 from Ilorin Women Development Centre

The 4th cohort of twenty women who have been trained in modern tailoring skills and cap-making received certificates and empowerment items during a graduation ceremony held at the Centre in Akerebiata, Gambari, Ilorin, on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Addressing the graduands, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh charged them to be good ambassadors of the University and their communities by making judicious use of the tools.

He stressed that there will be monitoring of usage and impact and to provide ongoing mentorship.

In his address, the Acting Chairman of the Committee on Women Development and Entrepreneurship, Professor Mubaraq Sanni, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and management for their support. He noted that the initiative, which started in Ilorin, now has centres in Osi, Ilesha-Baruba, and Malete, where cohorts are trained in fashion design.

Professor Sanni reiterated that the management's dedication to community development had made this remarkable program possible, having a significant impact.

Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Hajia Mariam Adejolaanobi expressed gratitude to KWASU for initiating the programme. She highlighted the benefits of receiving a stipend during training, stressing that this was a unique and appreciated gesture.

Three graduates received cash prizes and certificates of excellence for their discipline, enterprise, and punctuality.
