Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Tertiary Education undertook an oversight assessment visit to the Lagos State University (LASU) main campus in Ojo on Monday, March 25, 2024. Led by the Committee Chairman, Honourable Owolabi Ajani, who represents Lagos Mainland Constituency I, the delegation engaged in an evaluation of the institution's operations.

Upon arrival at the university, the committee members were warmly received by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at her office located on the 6th floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building on the main campus in Ojo. The delegation included Honourable Surajudeen Tijani from Ojo Constituency II and Honourable Solomon Bonu from Badagry Constituency I, who actively participated in discussions with the university management.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor provided an overview of the university's recent accomplishments, highlighting significant milestones achieved over the past year. These accomplishments encompassed the introduction of 21 new academic programs and notable technological innovations that garnered recognition for the university. The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the committee members, particularly acknowledging the unwavering support of the Honourable Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, towards the institution.

In response, Honourable Ajani reassured the Vice-Chancellor of the committee's commitment to providing parliamentary support for initiatives aimed at advancing the university's objectives and elevating its status. The delegation subsequently proceeded to conduct a physical assessment of ongoing projects within the university premises.

Throughout the engagement, senior officials from the university management and administration were present to facilitate discussions and provide necessary information to the honourable members.
