The university also stated that any graduand who loses or damages an academic gown will pay a replacement fee of ₦36,000 for first-degree gowns and ₦45,000 for postgraduate diploma and master's degree gowns.

LASU announced that degree certificates will be available for collection immediately after the convocation ceremony, provided the academic gown has been returned.

During the ceremony, first-degree graduands are expected to move the tassels of their caps from the right to the left when the Vice-Chancellor declares, "I admit you all," signifying their formal admission into the body of graduates of Lagos State University. Higher degree recipients are expected to wear their caps with the tassels positioned on the left from the beginning of the ceremony.

The university advised all graduands to seek assistance from Faculty Officers or School Secretaries to ensure their academic gowns, hoods and caps are properly worn, with tassels correctly positioned.

Female graduands are expected to show courtesy while shaking hands with the Vice-Chancellor, while male graduands are required to bow without removing their caps.

Parents, guardians and invited guests have been advised to be seated no later than 8:30 a.m. on each day of the ceremonies.

LASU also issued the following instructions to graduands:

  • Graduands must join the academic procession by 9:00 a.m. Failure to do so will result in denial of entry into the auditorium.
  • Each faculty's graduands must sit only in the designated sections assigned to them.
  • Unauthorised movement and photography will not be permitted during the ceremony. Graduands are advised to take photographs before entering the auditorium or after the event. Anyone who leaves the auditorium during the ceremony will not be allowed to return.
  • Invited guests and graduands seated under the canopy outside the auditorium are expected to stand as the academic procession enters and leaves the venue.
  • Graduands must wear the approved academic robes and faculty colours.
  • All graduands are required to complete their clearance procedures in their respective colleges, schools and faculties before the convocation to facilitate the collection of their certificates.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated all graduating students, parents, guardians, stakeholders and members of the university community ahead of the combined 29th and 30th Convocation Ceremonies.
