The Lagos State University (LASU) Postgraduate School has announced a supplementary admission exercise for the 2023/2024 academic session, inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for various part-time and full-time postgraduate programmes. The available courses fall under the Centre for Peace and Security Studies, covering diplomas, master's, and doctoral degrees.

General Requirements

All applicants must possess at least five (5) O' Level credits, including English Language, in relevant subjects. Candidates for programmes in Science, Social Sciences, and Management Sciences must also have a credit in Mathematics. Additional programme-specific requirements are detailed below.

Available Programmes and Admission Requirements

  1. Post Graduate Diploma in Peace and Security Studies (PGDIPSS)

    • Five (5) O' Level credits including English Language.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or Science from LASU or a recognized university, with at least a Third-Class Division.
    • HND (Lower Credit) or relevant professional certificates in related fields are also acceptable.
    • Mature candidates (35 years and above) with less than five (5) O' Level credits but with five (5) years of work experience may apply.

    Duration: Three (3) semesters (part-time).

  2. Master in Peace and Security Studies (MIPSS) Professional

    • Five (5) O' Level credits, including English Language.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or Science with a Second-Class Lower Division or above.
    • HND (Lower Credit) holders with a Postgraduate Diploma in a related field may also apply.
    • Mature candidates (35 years and above) with five (5) years of experience may be considered.

    Duration: Four (4) semesters (part-time).

  3. Master of Arts in Peace and Security Studies (MAPSS)

    • Five (5) O' Level credits, including English Language, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division.
    • HND (Lower Credit) with a PGD in Peace and Security Studies and a CGPA of 4.0 are also eligible.

    Duration: Four (4) semesters (part-time).

  4. Ph.D. in Peace and Security Studies (PPSS)

    • Five (5) O' Level credits, including English Language.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, or Science.
    • M.A. or M.Sc. with at least a CGPA of 4.0 from LASU or another recognized university.

    Duration: Six (6) to eight (8) semesters.

  5. Doctor of Peace and Security Studies (DPSS) Professional

    • Bachelor’s Degree and an M.A. or M.Sc. with a CGPA of at least 3.0.

Application Procedures and Deadline

Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Thirty Thousand, Three Hundred Naira (N30,300.00) through LASU's online payment platform. Prospective students must complete their applications online and print a copy of the e-Registration slip. The application process closes four (4) weeks from the date of the announcement.

Additional Information

Candidates should submit academic transcripts no later than two (2) weeks after the close of applications. National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificates are mandatory, and current postgraduate students need not apply. A mandatory qualifying entrance examination will be held at the Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
