LASU Unveils Programmes for 27th Convocation Ceremony.

In anticipation of celebrating academic achievements and scholarly endeavors, Lagos State University (LASU) has disclosed the comprehensive schedule for its 27th Convocation Ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session. Spearheaded by the esteemed Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, the ceremony promises a series of events embracing tradition, gratitude, and scholarly discourse.

The convocation festivities are slated to commence on Thursday, May 30, and culminate on Thursday, June 6. 

Pre-Convocation Events:

Day 1: Convocation Press Conference The inaugural event would kick off with a press conference on Thursday, May 30, at 10:00 a.m. in the prestigious setting of the Senate Chamber, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos. Following the press conference, the convocation spirit would extend to sportsmanship with a staff sports competition at the LASU Sports Centre, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, commencing at 12:00 noon.

Day 2: Special Jumat Service On Friday, May 31, the university community would gather for a Special Jumat Service at the University Mosque, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, commencing at 1:00 p.m.

Day 3: Special Thanksgiving Service The convocation festivities would continue on Sunday, June 2, with a Special Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel (Chapel of Light), Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, starting at 10: 00 a.m.

Day 4: Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival Monday, June 3, would celebrate the university's rich cultural heritage with a Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival at the Badagry Gate Entrance, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, commencing at 9:00a.m.

Day 5: Convocation Lecture The intellectual apex of the convocation week would unfold on Tuesday, June 4, with the Convocation Lecture taking place at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, starting at 11:00 a.m.

Day 6: Award of Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and Master’s Degrees Wednesday, June 5, 2024, would mark the conferment of academic achievements with the Award of Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and Master’s Degrees at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, commencing at 10:00 a.m.

Day 7: Award of Doctorate Degrees (PhD) and Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees The grand finale of the convocation ceremony, slated for Thursday, June 6, would feature the prestigious Award of Doctorate Degrees (PhD) and the Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, commencing at 10:00 a.m.
