The newly elected executive council of the Lagos State University Students' Union (LASUSU) officially met with the University Management on Monday, September 29, 2025, to formalize their partnership for the upcoming term.

The LASUSU delegation, led by Acting Dean of Students’ Affairs Dr. Fatai Abiodun-Abatan, was received by Vice-Chancellor Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, and other principal officers at the Senate Building. The visit served as a formal introduction and a foundation for continuous collaboration between the student body and the administration.

In her address, Professor Olatunji-Bello congratulated the new LASUSU leaders on their successful electoral emergence. She gave a firm charge, urging them to demonstrate integrity, accountability, and responsibility in their roles, emphasizing that their positions represent a call to service and an opportunity to establish lasting legacies.

The Vice-Chancellor also requested other members of the Management team—including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Registrar, Bursar, and Librarian—to offer counsel. The Management team assured the student leaders of a commitment to constructive dialogue and promised that all student requests would be well-considered within the University's policy framework. Professor Olatunji-Bello further guaranteed the Union of Management’s continuous support for promoting students’ welfare, academic excellence, and peaceful co-existence on campus.

Speaking on behalf of the students, LASUSU President-elect Comrade Adebayo Korede Peter expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the administration’s open-door policy and unwavering commitment to students' development. He pledged the Union’s readiness to work harmoniously with the University administration to advance student interests and uphold institutional values.

The Speaker-elect, Rt Hon Ogunbiyi Akorede Joshua, echoed the President’s sentiments. The interactive session also allowed the student leaders to officially present key concerns and suggestions aimed at improving the academic and social experiences of students.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, symbolized by group photographs representing the unity of purpose, mutual respect, and shared vision for a greater Lagos State University.
