The Lagos State University (LASU) is celebrating the international achievement of alumnus Seyi Omotoso, a PhD candidate at the University of São Paulo, who is currently conducting advanced research at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School in the United States.
Supported by funding from the CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development), Omotoso is actively collaborating with Harvard researchers on projects focused on the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease using cutting-edge machine learning and deep learning architectures.
During his academic visit, Omotoso is not only contributing to high-level research in neuroscience and medical imaging but is also dedicated to strengthening international research ties. His schedule involves intensive participation in scientific discussions, seminars, workshops, and meetings that facilitate critical knowledge exchange between the institutions.
This milestone is seen by LASU as a reflection of its enduring tradition of producing graduates who make meaningful contributions to global research, demonstrate leadership, and actively build bridges between international academic institutions in the pursuit of excellence.
Omotoso acknowledged the strong support received from LASU throughout his journey and specifically credited the guidance of his mentor, Pastor Lawrence Omokhua, who encouraged his collaboration with the research group at Harvard.
The Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, extended her congratulations to Omotoso on this significant milestone and wished him continued success in his program.
