Lagos State University (LASU) has emerged victorious in the highly competitive PR Pitch Competition at the inaugural PR Fest 2024, a weeklong celebration of public relations, creativity, and culture. The competition, held on the opening day of the festival, featured a fierce contest between LASU and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) focused on strategic communication skills.

Both teams presented innovative strategies aimed at positioning Lagos State as a premier tourist destination, leveraging its rich cultural heritage. LASU's pitch distinguished itself with an exceptional PR plan that impressed the judges.

The winning team's proposal included a multi-faceted approach combining digital storytelling, immersive experiences, and strategic partnerships to enhance Lagos State’s global reputation as a cultural hub. Their creative ideas and well-executed presentation secured them top marks, culminating in a well-deserved victory.

Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo, Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), praised both teams for their hard work and creativity. "This competition has truly demonstrated the power of public relations in shaping narratives and influencing perceptions. LASU’s performance was exemplary, and we are excited to see the future of PR in the hands of such talented young professionals," she stated.

As part of their prize, the LASU team received a trophy and N100,000, while YABATECH was awarded N50,000 and a runner-up trophy. The presentations took place at the grand finale of PR Fest, held at the Muson Centre, with judges Mr. Bolaji Abimbola, CEO of Indigo, and Mr. Bamiji Adeleye, CEO of Alderfort.

The PR Pitch Competition highlighted the importance of strategic communication in promoting culture and tourism in Nigeria. The event marked the beginning of an exciting week of activities, including lectures, cultural tours, and networking opportunities aimed at fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation in public relations.
