MAAUN Students Engage in Diplomatic Field Trip to Nigerian Institute of International Affairs

Senior students from the Department of International Relations at Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) recently visited the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos as part of their Diplomatic Field Trip program.

The trip provided students with hands-on learning experiences, allowing them to analyze international issues, engage in diplomatic negotiations, and propose solutions to global challenges. Led by Dr. Lawan Malami Goni, Acting Head of the Department, the field trip aimed to enhance students’ understanding of cultural diversity and promote global awareness.

During their visit, students interacted with Prof. Eghosa Emmanuel Osaghae, the Director General of NIIA, and toured the Institute's facilities. They also explored notable locations, including the Nike Art Foundation and the National Museum, where they learned about Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

Additionally, the students had the unique opportunity to view the historic vehicle associated with the assassination of former Military Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, on February 13, 1976. Other significant sites visited included the Customs Police Zone A Area Command.

This experiential learning initiative reflects MAAUN's commitment to providing students with valuable educational opportunities beyond the classroom.
