On Friday, 23rd January, 2026, a delegation from Mayana Energy Limited paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, to explore a potential partnership aimed at pioneering Nigeria’s first green and eco-friendly university campus.

The engagement took place in the Vice-Chancellor’s office and was attended by the University’s principal officers, as well as the Director, Centre for Bioenergy and Dean, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, Professor M. D. Makut, who served as a liaison between the delegation and the University management.Welcoming the delegation, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman expressed delight at the visit and the proposal presented by Mayana Energy Limited.

She commended the company for selecting NSUK as the proposed host institution for its green energy systems and innovations, noting that the initiative aligns with the University’s vision of operating a campus powered by renewable energy and promoting environmentally sustainable living.

The Vice-Chancellor further reiterated the University’s readiness to embrace the company’s bioenergy products and the proposed Mayana Energy curriculum to be implemented in collaboration with the University’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre.

She explained that the partnership would enhance students’ exposure to technology and innovation, strengthen the University’s core values of excellence, and generate sustainable returns for both the Energy Centre and the University at large.Earlier in his remarks, the Managing Director of Mayana Energy Limited, Dr. Mer Anthony Best, who is an alumnus of NSUK, stated that the proposed collaboration is focused on promoting green energy and establishing sustainable energy systems within the University.

He noted that the initiative would position NSUK as a national reference point for reduced dependence—and eventual independence from government power infrastructure, creating a sustainable win-win outcome for all stakeholders.

Dr. Best added that the visit included key assessments and considerations to ensure that the company’s energy transition and training initiatives align with the University’s vision and core values.

A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Star Award to the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of her commitment to the promotion of green energy through Mayana Energy Limited, as well as the celebration of the proposed partnership and the pioneering of bioenergy initiatives at NSUK, the pacesetter of such innovation in the Nigerian Tertiary Education System.
