Meet Ash-Shaikh Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Sani: Dean of Faculty of Education, Federal University Dutse

Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Sani was born in Birnin Kudu on January 7, 1965. His educational journey began in his hometown, where he attended primary school from 1971 to 1978. Later, he pursued his secondary education at Government College High School in Kaduna State, graduating in 1983.

Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Sani was born in Birnin Kudu on January 7, 1965. His educational journey began in his hometown, where he attended primary school from 1971 to 1978. Later, he pursued his secondary education at Government College High School in Kaduna State, graduating in 1983.

After completing high school, Dr. Sani worked at a school focused on agriculture and community development from 1983 to 1984. During this time, he honed his skills as a typist. However, his thirst for knowledge led him to continue his studies. He enrolled in a diploma program in accounting at Zaria from 1984 to 1986.

It was during his stay in Zaria that Dr. Sani had the privilege of studying under renowned scholars. He learned from Malam Muhammad Sani Gummi, the imam of the Jumu’ah Masjid, delving into Ar-Risaalah (Islamic jurisprudence) under his guidance. Additionally, he studied Akhdari and Al-Iziyya with Malam Muhammadu Bazamfare.

In 1987, Dr. Sani moved to a southern city, where he worked as a bookkeeper at KNARDA for four years. However, destiny had more in store for him. In 1991, Daura scholars arrived from Madinah to Kano, and Dr. Sani was tested and accepted. This marked a turning point in his life—the opportunity to study at the prestigious Islamic University of Madinah.

The allure of studying in the city where the Messenger of Allah lived and died filled Dr. Sani with joy. He immersed himself in rigorous academic pursuits, eventually earning a Bachelor’s degree in Shari’ah (Islamic Studies) from the Islamic University of Madinah in 1996, graduating with First Class Honors.

His thirst for knowledge remained unquenched. Dr. Sani pursued a Master’s degree in Education (Islamic Studies) from the same institution, graduating with First Class Honors in 2001. His expertise deepened further as he specialized in Islamic Creed (Aqeeda) during his Ph.D. studies. In 2009, he proudly received his doctorate, once again achieving First Class Honors.

A Scholar and Community Leader

Beyond academia, Dr. Sani actively engages in community service. He provides assessment, capacity-building, and research consultancy services to various organizations and government agencies. His commitment extends to being the Chief Imam of Dutse Emirate, a member of the Dutse Emirate Council, and a Council of King Makers member.

Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Sani’s journey exemplifies dedication, scholarship, and leadership. As the Dean of the Faculty of Education at the Federal University Dutse, he continues to inspire students and contribute to the advancement of education and Islamic studies.
