Military Commandant, Major A.I. Dirusu Visits Lagos State University, Strengthens Security Collaboration

On Tuesday, September 3, 2024, Major A.I. Dirusu, Commandant of the Ojo Military Cantonment, along with Lieutenant O.O. Otusanya and Lance Corporal A. Adeyanju, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, at the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, LASU main campus, Ojo.

The Vice Chancellor, represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Adenike Omotunde Boyo, welcomed the military delegates. She expressed gratitude for their visit and ongoing support in maintaining safety and fostering a strong relationship with LASU. She also highlighted the upcoming FASU Games, appealing for enhanced cooperation in security matters.

Major Dirusu, newly deployed, aimed to familiarize himself with the Vice Chancellor. He presented a plaque to Professor Olatunji-Bello, symbolizing recognition and appreciation for the partnership between the military and the university. He assured the Vice Chancellor of continued cooperation, emphasizing that LASU has nothing to worry about regarding security.

The visit was attended by members of the University Management, including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Professor Olufunsho Abayomi Omobitan, Acting Bursar/Deputy Bursar Mr. Olabisi Yusuf, Deputy Registrar Dr. Lateef Sekoni, Chief Security Coordinator CSP Oluwole Ojo (Rtd), and representatives from the Vice Chancellor’s office and the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR).

This courtesy visit reinforced the existing bond between the military and LASU, setting the stage for continued collaboration in ensuring the safety and well-being of the university community.
