Hon. Dr. Tanko Sununu, Minister of Education, has called on principals of Federal Unity Colleges to prioritize entrepreneurship education for student success. Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of Principals of Federal Unity Colleges held in Abuja on September 17, 2024, Sununu stressed the importance of equipping students with job creation skills rather than just preparing them for employment.

"We must ensure that students are not just ready for jobs but ready to create jobs," Sununu stated. He urged principals to lead this change by inspiring both teachers and students to embrace entrepreneurship.

Sununu also advocated for stronger partnerships between schools and local businesses to bridge the gap between education and the real world. "Students need to apply their skills in meaningful ways," he emphasized.

The Executive Secretary of the National Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr. Iyela Ajayi, highlighted that entrepreneurship fosters self-reliance and contributes to national economic growth.

Dr. Idowu Akinbamijo, Chairperson of Federal Unity Colleges and Principal, noted that this year's meeting focused on skills acquisition, leveraging technology, and preparing students for success in the modern workforce.
