NANS Commends Federal Government on NELFUND, CNG Buses During 64th Independence Celebration

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) praised the Federal Government during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration for its student-focused initiatives, particularly the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the provision of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has praised the Federal Government for its initiatives aimed at improving students' welfare across the country. As Nigeria marked its 64th Independence Day, NANS President, Comrade Lucky Emonefe, led a solidarity march in Abuja to show support for the government’s efforts.

Key among the government’s initiatives highlighted by NANS are the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses to campuses. These reforms, spearheaded by the Bola Tinubu administration, are expected to ease the financial and transportation burdens faced by students across Nigerian universities.

During the march, Comrade Emonefe expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, stating, "We thank the Federal Government for the student loan scheme and the CNG buses distributed to students. These initiatives will greatly alleviate the transportation challenges many students face daily on campuses."

In addition to commending the government's efforts, Emonefe urged for further attention to be given to security concerns on campuses, emphasizing the need for a safe learning environment for students. He also called for unity among Nigerians, stressing the importance of patriotism as the country continues to strive for peace and development.

NANS reiterated its support for the Tinubu administration and its dedication to ensuring national stability. "We are not in support of any move to destabilize the country. Instead, we lend our support to the Federal Government and pray for the success of the Bola Tinubu administration," Emonefe added.

The march served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Nigeria's forefathers in the fight for independence, with NANS calling on students to appreciate and uphold the nation's legacy as it celebrates its 64th year of independence.
