Nasarawa State University Holds Seminar on Geo-Sciences and Environmental Sustainability
The Department of Geology and Mining, Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences at Nasarawa State University Keffi, held a seminar titled "Making Nigeria Green: Geo-Sciences and Nasarawa State in Focus" on June 11, 2025.
The event, which took place in the University Assembly Hall, brought together a diverse audience of academics, officials, and students.
In her opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, emphasized the crucial role of geoscience in promoting environmental sustainability and green practices. She called for innovative approaches and collaboration to address Nigeria's environmental challenges and highlighted the significance of local initiatives.
The Dean of the Faculty, Professor M.D. Makut, reiterated the need for institutions to lead in research and innovation focused on sustainable development through environmental conservation.
The keynote address, delivered by Professor N.G. Goki, explored how geological and scientific advancements can drive Nigeria's transition to renewable energy and unlock the state's untapped geological resources.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the planning committee and participants.
