NCDC and UK Health Delegates Visit UCH for Laboratory Diagnostic Review
Delegates from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), in collaboration with the UK Health Security Agency’s International Health Regulation team, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on October 27, 2025, at the hospital’s Boardroom.

The Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, Mr. Akinbola, explained that the visit aimed to inspect the hospital’s laboratory facilities and conduct a diagnostic review to identify the root causes of external quality assessment failures. He added that the exercise would also support the implementation of corrective actions, provide targeted hands-on technical training, strengthen staff competence and confidence, and ultimately enhance public health safety and outbreak preparedness.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, pledged the management’s full cooperation and unwavering support throughout the exercise, emphasizing the hospital’s commitment to continuous improvement in health service delivery.
