The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has announced a strategic partnership with the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) to transform skills training programs for young military officers.
The Director-General of the NDE, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, reaffirmed this commitment while receiving the NDA Commandant, Major General John Ochefu Ochai, and his delegation in Abuja on Wednesday. He also noted the NDE’s existing collaborations with military establishments, including Operation Safe Corridor, in its mission to create a safer society through employment and skill acquisition initiatives.
Praising Major General Ochai’s leadership at the NDA, Fikpo commended the improvements in the academy’s training structure and pledged continued support in shaping well-trained and knowledgeable military leaders.
In response, Major General Ochai lauded the innovative initiatives introduced by the NDE under Fikpo’s leadership and expressed the NDA’s commitment to a productive partnership. He reiterated the academy’s dedication to producing skilled military officers through comprehensive academic and military training, leadership development, and research-driven programs.
The Nigerian Defence Academy, as a premier military university in Nigeria, plays a crucial role in training officer cadets to become commissioned officers in the Nigerian Armed Forces. Its core functions include academic education, military training, character development, and research in defense and security studies.
This partnership between the NDE and the NDA is expected to further enhance the professional and technical competencies of officer cadets, equipping them with skills that align with both national security objectives and global military standards.
