Niger Delta Development Minister Lauds UNICAL VC

The Minister of the Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh has lauded the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi for for partnering with the ministry to ensure that the quality of projects executed in the institution were according to given specifications and of high standards, Myschoolnews report.

Engr Abubakar Momoh who paid a surprise visit to the University in a bid to have an on-the-spot assessment of the state of NDDC projects said he was impressed with the quality of work seen.

The Honourable Minister who was elated with the development said " I believe in quality jobs, quality roads, and am impressed with the work on the major road linking the University to the outside world and the adjoining roads. I am quite impressed. "

The Niger Delta Development Helmsman specially commended the Town Hall building in the institution which he described as big and spacious, the kind of structure that he will want to see replicated in the entire Niger Delta Region.

For the ongoing road construction in the institution slowed down by the persistent rainfall, the Minister called on the Managing Director of the NDDC to ensure that the roads are completed as soon as the rains are over.

Engr Momoh assured the Vice Chancellor of the continued partnership of his ministry with the institution and the pledge of the production of quality jobs.

Speaking earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi appreciated the Minister for the visit and the Ministry of Niger Delta Development for all the support rendered to the University.

Prof Florence Obi lauded the ministry for the projects so far executed, describing the roads constructed as durable, the drains as perfect and the size of the road as commendable and exemplary. 

Projects inspected in the course of the Hon Minister's visit include the network of roads linking the faculty of Science to the faculty of clinical science environment as well as the faculty of Education to the Library,  and the Town Hall (Cross River Community).
