Niger State Assembly Passes Bill to Establish Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action

The Niger State House of Assembly has officially passed a bill to establish the Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action in Mokwa. This significant development was confirmed during the recent plenary session, where members of the Assembly reviewed and approved the report from the Committee on Tertiary Education.
Chairman of the committee, Mohammad Sani Idris, presented the report, highlighting that the bill aims to create a new state university while transforming the Niger College of Agriculture into a full-fledged university. Idris emphasized that the proposed institution will focus on specialized training, offering courses in Agriculture and Climate Action. The curriculum will integrate information technology, modern practices, and advancements in science and technology, in line with the guidelines set by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
After thorough consideration, the bill was adopted clause by clause and subsequently passed into law. Speaker Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji commended the committee and all Assembly members for their diligent efforts in bringing this initiative to fruition. He directed the clerk of the House to prepare and transmit clean copies of the law to the governor for formal assent.
This new university aims to position Niger State at the forefront of agricultural education and climate action, responding to the pressing need for innovative solutions in these critical sectors.
