Nigerian Law School Student, Faith Alayande, Dies After Fall at Lagos Campus Hostel
A 23-year-old student of the Nigerian Law School, Faith Alayande, has died following a fall from the rooftop of a hostel at the institution’s Lagos Campus in Victoria Island.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, according to the Nigerian Law School. The institution said preliminary information indicated that Alayande fell from the rooftop of the hostel and subsequently died from injuries sustained.
Alayande was a student of the Nigerian Law School’s Enugu Campus who was at the Lagos Campus for an externship programme. The school confirmed that she was undergoing the programme when the incident occurred.

Following the incident, the management of the Nigerian Law School said it had commenced an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death, in collaboration with relevant authorities.
The Lagos State Police Command also confirmed the incident and said investigations were ongoing. Police reports described the incident as a suspected case involving a fall from the rooftop, but noted that the circumstances remain subject to investigation.
The police said the deceased was found within the hostel premises and that the matter was reported to the authorities. Her remains were subsequently taken to a mortuary.
The Nigerian Law School expressed condolences to Alayande’s family and colleagues, and assured the public that the circumstances surrounding the incident would be properly investigated.
The news has drawn reactions across the legal and academic communities as colleagues and members of the public mourn the loss of the young law student.
Faith Alayande was 23 years old. Investigations remain ongoing.
