North West University Kano Cancels Second Semester Mid-Semester Break

The Management of Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (formerly Northwest University) has officially announced the cancellation of the mid-semester break for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session

In a formal notification issued by the Office of the Registrar on February 11, 2026, the university management stated that the decision was made due to the proximity of the break to the scheduled commencement of the Second Semester Examinations.

Examination Readiness: The cancellation aims to provide students with uninterrupted time for "full concentration" in their final preparations for the forthcoming exams.

Administrative Efficiency: The period will be utilized to finalize relevant examination documentation and logistical arrangements to ensure a seamless commencement of the assessment period.

Revised Academic Flow: This directive supersedes the earlier communication dated February 9, 2026, which had initially proposed a postponement.

The circular, signed by the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records (DEAR), Jafaru Sule Muhammad, expressed apologies for any inconveniences caused by the sudden change in the academic schedule.

All Deans, Academic Directors, and students are urged to take note of this adjustment and align their academic activities accordingly.
