North‑Eastern University, Gombe, Signs Landmark Tripartite MoU with Chinese Partners

The China Association for Science and Technology and North-Eastern University (NEU) in Gombe have signed a highly valuable tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Overseas Talent Intelligence Alliance of China. This is another decisive step on the global stage.

The agreement was concluded in China, with NEU's delegation led by the Pro-Chancellor & Founder, Dr. Sani Jauro _FPIN_ , accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Sani Isyaka and Mr. Ahmad Jauro Sani, a Lecturer in Cybersecurity.

The MoU was signed on the Chinese side by Mr. Fu Chujian (James), Chairman of Winning Star Group, who represented the China Association for Science and Technology as well as China Overseas Talent Intelligence Alliance.

This partnership is strategic, technical, and economically aligned to the objectives of all parties. 

Major Commitments in the Agreement are:

1. Full Training in China for NEU’s Best Graduates

The Association pledged to sponsor and train the first 10 best graduating students of NEU in China, exposing them to cutting-edge Chinese innovation in advanced science and technology fields.

2. One (1) Megawatt Solar Power Project for NEU

In a direct boost to the university’s energy security, Association is committed to establishing a 1MW solar power plant on NEU’s campus. This project will strengthen the university’s teaching, learning, and research environment.

3. Establishment of the “Overseas Investment Promotion Station” at NEU

The agreement authorizes NEU to host an official cooperation station dedicated to: • positioning NEU’s research for commercialization in China

• Linking Nigerian innovations to Chinese industry

• Hosting cross-border investment and technology exchange programs

• Serving as the permanent liaison office between both institutions

4. Scientific Research Commercialization

NEU will share a catalogue of its mature research and patented technologies in African medicinal plants, agriculture, health, engineering, new energy, ICT, and related fields.

China will provide industrial partners, funding channels, and landing platforms—ranging from enterprise partnerships to industry integration.

5. Two-way Academic and Talent Exchange

The MoU establishes a long-term mechanism for staff and student mobility: • NEU lecturers and researchers will access Chinese universities, labs, and tech enterprises for training and joint research.

• Chinese experts will visit NEU to deliver lectures, workshops, and technical training.

• NEU students will gain internship and work-placement opportunities in China’s partner industries.

• Both sides will explore joint laboratories, research centres, and postgraduate training pipelines.

6. Industrial Support and Investment Matching

For key projects recognized by both parties, China will coordinate companies to provide funding, commercialization pathways, and industrial support.

NEU will provide technical direction and research leadership.

The agreement, signed on 15 November 2025, binds both parties under principles of mutual benefit, complementary strengths, and long-term cooperation.

This partnership positions NEU not just as a Nigerian institution, but as an emerging African hub for technology exchange, scientific innovation, and cross-border research commercialization.
