The Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has officially announced the date for its 30th Matriculation Ceremony, marking the formal entry of newly admitted students for the 2026_1 Academic Semester.

In an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar on March 31, 2026, the University confirmed that the ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, across all study centres nationwide.

Virtual Format and Regional Coordination

In line with the institution’s digital-first academic model, the 30th Matriculation will be conducted virtually. While students will gather at their respective study centres, the central ceremony will be broadcast via a dedicated weblink. The University’s Academic Registry noted that specific times and login credentials for the virtual link will be communicated to Study Centre Directors and students in due course.

Mandatory Orientation for New Students

To ensure a smooth transition into the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system, the University has also directed all Study Centre Directors to organize a mandatory Orientation Programme on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. This session is designed to familiarize newly admitted students with the university’s portal, TMA (Tutor-Marked Assignment) processes, and virtual learning environment.

Administrative Compliance

The notice, signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic Registry), Petu Bola Keji, on behalf of the Registrar, emphasizes that all Study Centre Directors are expected to ensure full compliance and adequate preparation for both the orientation and the matriculation events.
