NSUK, Centre for Democracy and Development Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Democratic Governance and Regional Diplomacy

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has continued to consolidate its position as a leading institution for research, policy engagement, and national development with the commencement of a strategic partnership with the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) aimed at promoting democratic governance, peace-building, and regional cooperation.

The partnership was initiated on Monday, July 6, 2026, when the Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, received a high-powered delegation from the Centre for Democracy and Development at her office in the Senate Building, Keffi.

Receiving the delegation, Professor Liman reaffirmed the University's commitment to building strategic collaborations that address national and continental challenges through research, innovation, and evidence-based policy engagement.

She described the proposed collaboration as timely, noting that universities have a critical responsibility to provide intellectual leadership and practical solutions to emerging governance and foreign policy issues affecting Nigeria and Africa.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Centre for Democracy and Development for choosing NSUK as its academic partner for the forthcoming public engagement programme, assuring the delegation of the University's full institutional support to ensure its successful implementation.

Professor Liman also underscored the importance of stronger synergy among government institutions, academia, and civil society organisations in addressing evolving diplomatic challenges, maintaining that sustainable peace, democratic stability, and regional integration can only be achieved through collaborative action.

Earlier, the Director of the Centre for Democracy and Development, Dr. Dauda Garuba, commended the Management of Nasarawa State University for its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and praised Professor Liman's visionary leadership, which, according to him, has continued to elevate the University's national and international reputation.

Dr. Garuba explained that the Centre, renowned for promoting democratic governance through research, policy advocacy, and strategic engagement, sought NSUK's partnership to co-host a major public awareness programme scheduled for July 18, 2026.

According to him, the programme is designed to stimulate informed public dialogue on Nigeria's evolving diplomatic relations with South Africa and other African countries, while promoting peace, mutual understanding, democratic values, and stronger regional cooperation across the continent.

The visit also featured the presentation of specialised academic textbooks on governance, democracy, peace studies, and international relations by the CDD delegation to the Vice-Chancellor for the University's Library, further strengthening research and scholarship in these critical fields.

In appreciation, Professor Liman presented official NSUK souvenirs to the visiting delegation as a symbol of the University's enduring commitment to productive institutional partnerships.

The visit concluded with a commemorative group photograph, marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration expected to contribute significantly to democratic governance, policy research, and regional diplomacy while further reinforcing Nasarawa State University, Keffi's reputation as a leading hub for academic excellence, innovation, and national development.
