Describing access to information as a “reagent for sustainable development, innovation, and empowerment across all fields of human endeavour,” Dr. Paul highlighted its critical functions in shaping informed decisions, guiding effective government policies, and bridging societal divides by fostering accountability and transparency.
He urged professionals and the public to uphold ethical standards in the global knowledge economy, calling for strengthened information access, promotion of digital literacy, and ensuring inclusivity. Dr. Paul specifically warned against spreading hate speech, misinformation, or harmful content, advocating instead for constructive, value-driven communication that promotes societal growth, global harmony, and peaceful coexistence.
Concluding his address, Dr. Paul noted that when information is shared responsibly, ethically, and equitably, it becomes a powerful tool for peace, progress, and shared prosperity.
