NWUK Vice-Chancellor Professor Amina Bayero Enforces Discipline Amidst Series of High-Level Engagements
The Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano (NWUK), Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has combined diplomatic outreach with a firm stance on institutional discipline during a busy two-day schedule on February 11 and 12, 2026.
While receiving several congratulatory delegations, the Vice-Chancellor notably conducted a surprise weekly inspection that uncovered concerns regarding staff punctuality and commitment.
On Wednesday morning, Professor Bayero led an inspection tour across the Main and City Campuses to assess work ethics and facility standards.
The Findings: The Vice-Chancellor expressed significant dissatisfaction after observing a low level of staff presence in many offices and operational units.
The Directive: Emphasizing that "leadership requires presence," she warned that management would implement necessary measures to curb late-coming and instill a culture of dedication across the university system.
The week also featured a series of courtesy visits from prominent groups celebrating the Vice-Chancellor's recent appointment:
BUK Class of ’91 Forum: Led by Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed, the group presented a commemorative portrait to the VC and pledged their professional support to her administration.
GGSS KWA Class of 1983/84: A delegation led by Hajiya Safiya Abubakar offered prayers and historical reflections, encouraging the VC to maintain her trajectory of excellence.
Peace People Progressive Association (PPPA): A Sokoto-based group, chaired by Alhaji Munniru Bello, explored potential collaborations with the university on community-based initiatives.
According to a statement from Abubakar Ibrahim, Head of the NWUK Public Relations Unit, these engagements reflect Professor Bayero’s dual focus on external partnership and internal accountability. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated that while she welcomes collaboration, the internal growth of NWUK depends on the unwavering discipline of its workforce.
