NYSC Bayelsa Urges Corps Members to Prevent Sexual Harassment and Ensure Security

The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bayelsa State, Mrs. Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, has emphasized the need for corps members to avoid behaviors that could lead to sexual harassment during and after their service year. Mrs. Charity made this admonition during a lecture on sexual harassment held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State.

In her address, Mrs. Charity highlighted that actions such as indecent dressing and making suggestive statements could inadvertently encourage sexual harassment. She emphasized the importance of maintaining professional conduct and respecting personal boundaries to prevent such occurrences.
Furthermore, Mrs. Charity urged corps members, especially females, to promptly report any incidents of sexual harassment for appropriate action. She assured them that NYSC management is committed to addressing all forms of misconduct and ensuring a safe environment for everyone.

In addition to the lecture on sexual harassment, Mrs. Charity addressed security concerns among the corps members. She emphasized the importance of adhering to security protocols both at the orientation camp and at their Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs). Mrs. Charity urged corps members to prioritize their safety and remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to insecurity.
