Opay Digital Company has awarded scholarships totaling N12 million to 40 indigent students of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, providing each beneficiary with N300,000. The scholarship distribution took place on November 8, 2024, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ABU and Opay at the Vice-Chancellor's office.

Mr. Dauda Gotring, Managing Director of Opay, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting education as part of its corporate social responsibility. Gotring, an ABU alumnus, noted that the partnership reflects Opay’s special connection with the university, and mentioned plans to further empower women in Zaria through startup programs.

Expressing gratitude, ABU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala highlighted the positive impact the scholarships will have on the recipients. The event was attended by various university officials, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellors and the Dean of Students Affairs.
