Oyelagbanwo Grammar School Alumni to Partner Kwara Government on Infrastructure Upgrade
Alumni of Oyelagbanwo Grammar School in Ilala, Kwara State, are partnering with the state government to revive the school’s aging infrastructure, over 50 years after its founding.
Oyelagbanwo Grammar School, Ilala, in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, is set for a transformative change as its alumni association prepares to collaborate with the state government to revitalize the school's aging infrastructure, over 50 years after its establishment.
In a significant development, the old students of Oyelagbanwo Grammar School have announced their readiness to restore the institution’s moribund facilities. This initiative comes as the alumni gear up to formally launch their association on Saturday, marking a new chapter in the school’s history.
Mr. Nasiru Moronfola, the chairman of the alumni association and a pharmacist, expressed the association’s commitment to enhancing the quality of education at the school. He disclosed that plans are in place to support the state government’s efforts by recruiting additional teachers to address the shortage in the school. This recruitment drive is part of an aggressive approach to improving both the teaching staff and the learning environment.
"We aim to partner with the Kwara State government to uplift the educational standards at Oyelagbanwo Grammar School and restore its infrastructure," Moronfola stated. "We have already met with the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, and we’re eager to see concrete steps toward reviving the school's facilities."
The chairman noted the alumni’s concern over the deteriorating state of the school’s infrastructure, emphasizing the need for the government’s intervention in rebuilding the dilapidated facilities. He highlighted the alumni's desire to see the school perform better in national exams, such as NECO and WAEC.
Additionally, Mr. Moronfola revealed plans to accommodate any teacher recruited by the alumni, saying it would serve as a form of motivation. The alumni association also intends to leverage its network to bring in private sector support, aiming to restore the institution to its former glory.
The upcoming launch of the alumni association signifies the alumni's dedication to the school that shaped their educational foundations, demonstrating a strong commitment to preserving and enhancing Oyelagbanwo Grammar School’s legacy for future generations.
