PAAU Intensifies Anti-Cultism Campaign, Arrests Two More Suspects
Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, has arrested two additional suspected cultists on campus as part of its ongoing crackdown on cultism and related criminal activities following a recent security breach.
The suspects, Fidelis Atuluku, Matric. No. 2026SE1252, and Monday Okolo, Matric. No. 2026SE1247, are 100-Level students of the Department of Social Studies/Education, Faculty of Education. They were apprehended on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, based on a tip-off and found in possession of charms. Both have confessed to being members of the Juris Confraternity, with initiation said to have occurred before their admission.
They will be handed over to appropriate law enforcement agencies for further investigation and legal action.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman, reaffirmed the university’s resolve to sustain its war against cultism until sanity is restored on campus. He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children and the company they keep to prevent lures into cultism and other crimes.
Prof. Usman disclosed that the university has begun profiling cult members who voluntarily submit themselves, sign undertakings, and pledge to desist. The window remains open for others to report to the Chief Security Officer or Dean, Student Affairs.

He added that a formal renunciation ceremony will be organised soon for those willing to publicly denounce cult membership and embrace a lawful lifestyle.
The VC thanked security agencies, religious bodies, traditional rulers, and concerned individuals for their support, and encouraged students to back efforts toward a peaceful and secure learning environment.
