PLASU Refutes Claims of Tuition Fee Hike for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The management of Plateau State University (PLASU), Bokkos, has debunked rumours circulating on social media suggesting an increase in tuition fees for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In an internal memorandum signed by the Registrar, Yakubu F. Ayuba, and addressed to all students, the University clarified that tuition fees have remained unchanged since 2022, despite economic challenges and inflationary pressures.

The Registrar explained that the misunderstanding may have stemmed from the introduction of a new ₦5,000 ICT charge, which is distinct from tuition fees. The fee, approved by the University’s Governing Council, is aimed at enhancing ICT infrastructure and providing free internet access on campus.

The memo further noted that the ₦10,000 Bench Fee, introduced in 2021 to standardize departmental levies, is still in place. Initially applicable only to final-year students, it has now been extended to 22 departments whose courses involve fieldwork, excursions, or productions.

PLASU also encouraged students to explore the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiated by the Federal Government to help mitigate financial burdens associated with tuition and related charges.
