Prof. Amoka Responds to SAN's Comments on Nigerian Professors

Professor Abdelghaffar Amoka of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has strongly responded to comments made by Sunusi Musa, SAN, regarding the state of Nigerian academia. Musa attributed the poverty of Nigerian professors to their alleged lack of productivity and large family sizes.

Prof. Amoka argued that the true cause of poverty among Nigerian professors lies in the systemic neglect and chronic underfunding of the education sector. He cited stagnant academic salaries since 2009, with professors now earning less than $400 per month.
