Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (formerly Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi), witnessed a significant academic event as Professor Pius O. Egwumah delivered the institution’s 58th Inaugural Lecture. The lecture, titled “Wildlife Management: The Untapped Treasure of the Nation", emphasized the critical role of wildlife conservation in boosting Nigeria's economy. Professor Egwumah, an expert in Ornithology and Wildlife Conservation, discussed the untapped economic potential of Nigeria’s rich biodiversity and how strategic management could lead to sustainable development.

The lecture, held in the presence of prominent scholars and dignitaries, was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Isaac N. Itodo. Professor Itodo, known for his humility, personally engaged with attendees, including a delegation from the University of Port Harcourt. He even extended a special invitation to U.D. Chima, one of Professor Egwumah's former students, and his team for a commemorative photograph, a gesture that left a lasting impression on the guests.
