A secondary school, Fakunle Unity High School located in Osogbo, Osun State had to be shut on Tuesday after after a number students fell unconscious from inhaling teargas released into the air.

A secondary school, Fakunle Unity High School located in Osogbo, Osun State had to be shut on Tuesday after after a number students fell unconscious from inhaling teargas released into the air.

Myschoolnews reports the teargas was fired into the air by riot policemen of the Mopol 39 base located directly opposite the school  during their morning drills 

 

As a result some of the students lost consciousness and were taken to an hospital close by while others were rushed to the Osun State University Teaching hospital for treatment.

 

Some parents who spoke to newsmen revealed that they were hurriedly called into the school by teachers who informed them of the unfortunate incident.

 

The spokesperson of the Osun State Police command, revealed that the policemen were carrying out their usual morning drills when the unfortunate incident happened.

 

She said "I just spoke to people at the Mopol base. They were just engaging in their morning drills, which involved the use of teargas. We apologize for the inconveniences; there will be necessary adjustments in operation since the base is now close to where other people also operate their businesses."
