Sheik Omo-owo Breaks Record, Becomes First Chairman of IESU Northern Axis From UDUS
The incumbent president of Ilorin Emirate Students’ Union (IESU) Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) chapter, Sheik Yusuph Omo-owo has broke years record by emerging as first chairman of IESU Northern Axis from Danfodiyo.

Sheik Omo-owo, a final year student of Islamic Studies at UDUS got the appointment merrily on Friday, 3rd of May after triumphing in the virtual screening held for the aspirants on the 15th of March, 2024. As the Chairman of IESU northern axis, he is automatically the overall president for Ilorites schooling in the 19 northern states including universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Ilorin Emirate Students’ Union, northern axis is the second largest body after the IESU national headquarters that umbrella students from Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State schooling in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Historically, the idea of establishing the northern axis was actualized five years ago with the efforts of more than five senior comrades. Sen. Issa Habeebullahi Olokogboro was unanimously given the privilege to lead the pioneer team, thereafter a consensus of zoning was reached.
Going by the zoning, Comrade Olateju from Federal University of Technology, Minna was selected to be the Chairman, followed by Comrade Sulyman from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Consequently, Comrade Alkamily from Sokoto State University held the office, while the outgoing Chairman, Aliyu Oba Abdulsalam is from Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
Sheik Omo-owo said he was surprised over the appointment because he couldn't believe he could be lucky enough to lead thousands of Ilorites schooling in northern states. He gives kudos to the pioneer comrades and every leader who has served in any capacity in the union.
Also, he appreciates his predecessor and the host of others for entrusting him with the post of power. He specially commends the contribution of Comrade Saheed Damilare Abdulhakeem (Smart).
