Skyline University Nigeria Conducts Workshop For Jofay High School Students

Skyline University Nigeria (SUN) conducted a changing gear workshop for final-year students of Jofay High School on October 17th, 2024.

The workshop was aimed at spotlighting opportunities in different disciplines that will support the students in making the best career choices.

 

In his opening remarks, Mr. Farouk Umar Isma’il, the Corporate Affairs Executive at SUN, stated that SUN has hosted Jofay High School students in the past and is always excited to host them again. He said the session is an eye-opener for the students who learn from SUN expert faculty.

During the session, Dr. Sanjoy Pal, a lecturer and the Head of the Department of Microbiology at SUN, delivered a lecture on Climate Change. In his lecture, he stated that the greenhouse effect is a natural thing that happens as our earth is protected by the ozone layer.

 

Dr. Pal explained that every country has a method of generating power—water, fossil fuel, air, solar and Tidal. He stated that fossil fuels are a type that cannot be renewed, and they pose a threat to our environment. He said, “Fossil fuel can be used once, and it releases harmful substances to our environment.”

He then encouraged the students to develop an analytical mindset and be innovative to create more sustainable solutions to our planet. The expert microbiologist said there are various opportunities for youth who study environment-related courses as climatologists, environmental engineers, geoscientists, e.t.c.

 

Delivering the closing remarks, Ms. Sarada Maganti, the Director of Public and Government Relations (DOPR), commended the management of Jofay High School for its support of SUN. She applauded the students for their attentiveness and understanding during the session, which was showcased during the question and answer session.
