SSAUTHRIAI President Visit UCH Ibadan CMD, Reaffirms Commitment to Health Sector Growth

The newly elected National President of the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), Dr. John Adeolu Ali, has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening collaboration within the health sector.

Dr. Ali, who was elected as SSAUTHRIAI President on Thursday, February 12, 2026, was accompanied on the visit by Comrade (Mrs.) Funmilayo F. Ogunbanwo, Sector Representative in NEC (Teaching Hospital Sector); Comrade Olawale S. Fatai, Branch Chairman, UCH, Ibadan; and Comrade Blessing O. Shadare, Branch Secretary, UCH, Ibadan.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Ali expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him and his delegation by the CMD. He emphasized the importance of synergy between union leadership and hospital management in ensuring improved welfare for staff and enhanced service delivery across teaching hospitals and associated institutions. He noted that his administration would prioritize constructive engagement, and mutual respect.

In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital, Ibadan, Prof. Otegbayo Abiodun Otegbayo congratulated Dr. Alli on his election as National President of SSAUTHRIAI, describing it as well-deserved.

The CMD reaffirmed the management’s commitment to maintaining a cordial working relationship with unions, stressing that collaboration remains the key to achieving excellence in healthcare delivery. He urged the new SSAUTHRIAI leadership to continue to promote peace, professionalism, and dialogue in addressing labour-related matters.

Prof. Otegbayo further assured the delegation of UCH management’s openness to engagements that will foster staff welfare, institutional development, and improved patient care.
