SUG-BUK Issues Security Advisory on Student Belongings During Examinations
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), through the Office of the Welfare Director, has issued an urgent security notice regarding the safety of mobile phones and personal effects during the ongoing examination period.
The advisory follows reports of increased risks of theft and phone snatching caused by students leaving valuable items unattended or openly exposed in front of examination halls.
To safeguard personal property and maintain a focused examination environment, the Welfare Director, Sen. Hamim Mahmud Ahmad (Mai Gemu), strongly advises students to:
Limit Valuables: Avoid bringing mobile phones or expensive electronics to examination venues unless absolutely necessary.
Secure Storage: Ensure all belongings are properly tucked inside bags or kept via other reliable, safe means rather than being left on open floors or windowsills.
Vigilance: Remain conscious of surroundings, as crowded examination perimeters are often targeted by opportunistic thieves.
The SUG-BUK leadership emphasized that while they are committed to student well-being, individual cooperation is essential to prevent "unnecessary loss." This move aligns with the University's general examination regulations which strictly prohibit the entry of mobile devices into the actual testing halls.
The Union remains available to assist students with welfare concerns throughout the duration of the examinations.
