Taraba State University Affirms Partnership as Muwanshat College of Health Sciences Matriculates New Students

The Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, Jalingo, Professor Sunday Paul Bako, ably represented by the DVC Administration, Prof. Reuben Jonathan, attended the 4th Matriculation Ceremony of Muwanshat College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jalingo.

The ceremony was graced by several distinguished personalities, including the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area, Hon. Nuru Dan Saho; the Proprietor, Alhaji Umaru Yola; the Provost, Abdulmajid Khalid; the Board Chairman, Dr. Garba Danjuma; His Royal Highness, the Chief of Garba Chede, Maigandi Kaigama Manu; and other respected dignitaries.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and the Management of Taraba State University, Professor Reuben Jonathan warmly welcomed all guests and congratulated the newly admitted students. He emphasized that admission into the college was highly competitive, noting that only a few applicants were selected. He encouraged the matriculating students to remain focused and dedicated to their studies, expressing confidence that they would graduate with excellent results and become quality human resources needed in the health sector.

Prof. Reuben commended the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government for representing His Excellency, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Executive Governor of Taraba State. He appreciated the Governor’s commitment to peace and security, which has created a conducive learning environment across the state. According to him, the prevailing peace has enabled institutions to attract students, expand academic programmes, and pursue development initiatives.

He further disclosed that Taraba State University has approved a partnership and affiliation with Muwanshat College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jalingo, in response to the growing demand for skilled manpower in the health sector. He noted that the university alone cannot meet this demand, hence the need for strategic collaboration. Under the leadership of Professor Sunday Paul Bako, the university has continued to expand its academic scope, promote quality education, and create an enabling environment for institutional growth, particularly in health-related programmes.

He assured the college of the university’s commitment to providing academic support and favorable conditions for the introduction of additional programmes, provided that standards are strictly maintained in line with the requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Prof. Reuben expressed confidence in the Provost and Management of the College to uphold academic excellence, stating that more programmes would be approved in due course as part of the affiliation.

He concluded by thanking all dignitaries and guests for their presence, congratulating the new students once again, and encouraging continued collaboration among institutions to foster innovation and advance education in Taraba State.
