Taraba State University Students Protest Unilateral Fee Hike

Students of Taraba State University (TSU) have raised concerns over an alleged sudden increase in tuition fees after the disbursement of Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to the school. According to reports, students who initially paid around ₦37,300 are now being asked to pay ₦57,700, while those paying ₦100,000 are still owed a balance.

The students questioned the whereabouts of the ₦120,000 disbursed by NELFUND to help alleviate financial hardships. Feeling aggrieved, the students are now calling on NELFUND management to intervene and compel the school administration to refund the excess amount paid.

Taraba State University's tuition fees typically range from ₦25,000 to ₦35,000 for both new and returning students. However, the recent controversy surrounding the NELFUND disbursement has sparked concerns about the transparency and accountability of the school's fee structure.
