The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has extended the deadline for the submission of Concept Notes for the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) Grant Cycle to Thursday, September 11, 2025.
This was announced by Arc. Sonny Echono, Executive Secretary of TETFund, who explained that the extension is to provide researchers with ample time to complete their submissions following initial challenges experienced with the NRF Portal.
Faculty members of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) are encouraged to take advantage of the new deadline to finalise and submit concept notes for the prestigious grant, which supports high-quality and impactful research across three categories:

- Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)
- Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI)
- Cross-Cutting (CC) thematic areas, including Blue Economy, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, and National System of Innovation
Researchers are reminded that multidisciplinary collaboration is highly encouraged, with calls for the formation of research teams across departments and disciplines. Early-career academics and mentees are also urged to join teams as part of efforts to promote capacity building.
To further assist applicants, the Research Management Office (RMO), UNILAG is available to facilitate group formation, identify collaborators, and provide guidance on proposal development and compliance with TETFund requirements.
For technical support, researchers may contact RMO, UNILAG or send inquiries to: nrfnorth@tetfund.gov.ng, nrfsouth@tetfund.gov.ng, zanginas@tetfund.gov.ng, or ugwubs@tetfund.gov.ng.
