This remarkable achievement comes after Corey's life took a drastic turn in 2009 when a severe spinal cord injury during a high school football match left him paralyzed.

Corey, once a DeSoto High School football player, recounted the life-altering incident that occurred when he was just 16 years old. "As soon as I made a hit, I couldn’t move from the neck all the way down to my feet," he shared with the news station. Since that fateful day in 2009, Corey has been confined to a wheelchair, unable to set his feet on the ground.

However, the graduation ceremony at the University of North Texas marked a special moment in Corey's life. In a surprising turn of events, he walked for the first time in public since the life-changing incident. Using an exoskeleton developed by the Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, Corey rose from his wheelchair and confidently walked across the stage to receive his well-deserved diploma.
