Two IBBUL Research Projects Win Tetfund Nrf Worth 76.8 Million Naira

Two research projects from Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, IBBUL, Lapai, have been awarded grants by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND, under the 2025 cycle of the National Research Fund, NRF.

The two IBBUL projects were among the 174 research projects recently approved nationwide for funding.

Speaking during the presentation of award letters to the Principal Researchers, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, congratulated the University, the two Principal Researchers and their research teams. 

He said the University is proud of their success and advised that the projects be implemented as stipulated in the award letters and research proposals.

The first research project was awarded 48.485 million Naira. It is titled, “Development of National Ground Water Risk Assessment Framework for Informed Public Health Policy Towards Ending Recurrent Cholera Outbreak in Nigeria”. The project is led by Dr. Hussaini Mohammed Majiya, an Associate Professor of Public Health Microbiology and Biotechnology, former Head of the Department of Microbiology and currently the Director of the Center for Applied Sciences and Technology Research, CASTER.

The second research project was awarded 28 million Naira. It is titled, “Developing Smart Geoscientific-Tracers to Assess Strategic Lithium Deposits in Nigeria as Catalyst for Clean Energy Leadership and Sustainable Development Vision”. The project is led by Dr. Tanko Yusuf Usman, an Associate Professor of Applied Geophysics and currently the Head of the Department of Physics and Acting Director of ICT.

Professor Sulaiman requested more TETFUND NRF awards and other research grant interventions for the University. 

He encouraged the winners to double their efforts and promised that the Management was ready to give all necessary support and resources.
