UCH Chief Medical Director Honours Dr. Asika Chukwuma for Pioneering Dental Clinic Donation

The Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital (UCH), Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, officially honoured Dr. Asika Chukwuma on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, for his exceptional contribution to specialized patient care.

Dr. Chukwuma, a Senior Registrar in the Department of Family Dentistry, was presented with a plaque of recognition and a formal letter of commendation for his pivotal role in establishing the newly commissioned Dental Clinic within the hospital’s Hospice and Palliative Care Department.

The donation marks a historic milestone for UCH, representing a first-of-its-kind initiative in the region. Traditionally, palliative care units lack integrated dental services; Dr. Chukwuma’s contribution successfully bridges this gap, ensuring that patients facing life-limiting illnesses receive comprehensive oral healthcare as part of a holistic treatment plan.
