UNIABUJA Governing Council Appoints First Female Registrar

The University of Abuja Governing Council has approved the appointment of Mrs. Islamiya Abdulraheem as the new acting registrar of the institution. The decision was reached during the council’s 71st Extraordinary Meeting, held on November 5, 2024.

Mrs. Abdulraheem, who currently serves as Deputy Registrar overseeing the Vice Chancellor’s Office and Deputy Registrar for Establishment, will step into her new role officially on November 12, 2024. She takes over from Malam Yahaya Mohammed, whose five-year tenure as registrar concludes on the same day.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Dr. Habib Yakoo, Acting Director of Information and University Relations, expressed confidence in Mrs. Abdulraheem’s leadership, highlighting her extensive experience and dedication to the institution.
