University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) students in the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies received hands-on training on the fundamentals of image building at a workshop organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to mark its 35th anniversary.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Celestin Achi, underscored that reputation in the digital era is shaped more by public perception than self-description, noting that “reputation is not what you say it is; it is what Google says it is when you walk out of the room.” He emphasised that character remains the foundation of lasting respect.
NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, urged students to exercise caution in their digital behaviour, stressing that every online action is recorded and accountability is inevitable. He advised students to adopt deliberate communication habits as they build professional identities.

Fellows of the NIPR and representatives from Bingham University also contributed insights, encouraging students to uphold ethical standards as they navigate the evolving communication ecosystem.
The Dean of Communication and Media Studies, Professor Abdullahi Bashir Saleh, described the event as evidence of strengthened collaboration between UNIABUJA and industry stakeholders, adding that students are now gaining broader practical exposure aligned with global communication trends.
