The University of Calabar and Kasetsart University Bangkok, Thailand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in their bid to promote cooperation in education and academic research.

The University of Calabar and Kasetsart University Bangkok, Thailand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in their bid to promote cooperation in education and academic research, Myschoolnews gathered.

The event was formalised at the Council Chamber of the University of Calabar by signing of relevant documents by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Florence Obi and Registrar, Mr Gabriel Egbe on behalf of Unical while the Vice President for Administration, Dr Damrong Sripraram and Dean, Faculty of Science, Assoc. Prof Apisit Songsaseh did the same for Kasetsart University.

The Memorandum of Understanding is predicated on the recognition of the common interest of both institutions towards cultural enrichment, scientific progress and consolidation of friendship.

The objective of the MOU is to essentially promote education and research between both academic institutions based on mutual respect for their autonomy as covered under the laws and regulations in force in both countries where the institutions reside.

The memorandum of Understanding which will be teaching and research-driven will cover the exchange of faculty, staff and research personnel for study, research and discussions, visits by and exchange of Postgraduate and underground students for study and research and collaboration on joint supervision and cooperation.

Others include inter-university research collaboration (Proposal writing, research activities, international proposals), Participation in Seminars, meetings, Exchange of academic and scientific information of mutual interest and any other mutually agreed activity that would benefit both parties.

The MOU is expected to run for three years and is subject to renewal in the interest of both parties.
